IAEI Minutes
August 2, 2000

The meeting was called to order, by Ed Huntsberger on August 2, 2000 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Present at the meeting were: Sam Gerace, Randy Thacker, John Griffin, Jimmy Douglas, Taylor Sams, Phillip Sapienza, Carl Beaton, John Martin, Joff Filion, Ed Huntsberger, Dallas Stratton, Don Brindley and Dan Carter.

Treasurer Report: Dallas Stratton reported all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Old Business: Dan Carter reported that the final round of voting on the proposed Florida Building Codes resulted in “all” of them being thrown out and the only code that will apply on July 1st 2001 is the National Electrical Code.

Don Brindley suggested that the scholarship committee consider the State Chapter’s involvement in the scholarship program they are considering.

New Business: Ed Huntsberger passed out the updated members list form the I.O. It showed we presently have 168 members.

Don Brindley introduced Randy Thacker the assistant chief to Don Brindley in Marion County. It was good to have you at the meeting Randy.

Don Brindley reported on the seminar held in Ocala. It was successful with 20 attending, 14 paying and 89% passed the written exam. The proceeds were turned over to Dallas Stratton.

Don Brindley reported that Max Godwin was approved as an instructor by the State and if he uses our courses the North Florida Division will get $5.00 per attendee.

John Griffin passed out a handout dealing with the “purpose” of the National Electrical Code. A long and lengthy discussion followed. John Martin summed it up at the end by saying the group of men who attend the IAEI are the ones who try to focus on safety and improvement issues and have some uniformity about it. It is now time for me to point out the reason given above is enough for anyone to want to belong to the IAEI; thank you for your continued support.

There was no 50/50 draw due to the secretary having a senior moment.

The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka on September 6th at 12:00 noon.

Respectfully Submitted,
Daniel L. Carter, Secretary
