Good morning,

I have a 2000 amp main located on a 2nd level mezzanine. This question is about "unobstructed exit," not about any issues with unfused conductors or anything like that.

The issue is that there is only one exit. The electrical room is 26' x 16' and then going through the exit door you enter another room which is about 16' x 8' before reaching the staircase.

Is this permissable? Is this an unobstructed exit? I do not have double the required working clearances for all electrical panels. Or would I simply need double the working clearances for the main only?

A single entrance to the required working space shall be permitted where either of the conditions in 110.26(C)(2)(a) or (b) is met.
(a) Unobstructed Exit. Where the location permits a continuous and unobstructed way of exit travel, a single entrance to the working space shall be permitted.
( b) Extra Working Space. Where the depth of the working space is twice that required by 110.26(A)(1), a single entrance shall be permitted. It shall be located so that the distance from the equipment to the nearest edge of the entrance is not less than the minimum clear distance specified in Table 110.26(A)(1) for equipment operating at that voltage and in that condition.

See the Exhibit 110.15 & 110.16 in the handbook.

I have two panels that are behind a compressor rack where you would have to pass in front of the 2000 amp main in order to exit the room. Sorry, I should have been more specific. This is in violation, is it not?

I can't find anything that would make it a violation. Thought it may be a problem..but I just can't find it.

A 36" DOOR IN FRONT OF A 6' PANEL IS NOT UNOBSTRUCTED. 2-36" DOORS AKA DOUBLE DOORS IN FRONT OF A 6' PANEL WOULD BE UNOBSTRUCTED
