Treasurer Report: Dallas Stratton reported all bills are paid and solvent.

Old Business: Ed Huntsberger led a discussion on how the counties will implement the code concerning the “arc fault breaker” to be in affect as of January 1, 2002. The general consensus was any building permit dated January 1, 2002 and after; the requirement will be in affect.

Joff Filion reported on the Installation Dinner to be held June 9th at the Ale House in St. Augustine.

New Business: Ed Huntsberger announced that a meeting was being held on June 7th at the St. Johns County Building Department concerning FP&L's TU's (Temporary/Permanent Underground Service.) The discussion pointed out safety issues and our Division is clearly against this practice. Hope you attended if you could.

Ed Huntsberger received a letter from the Southern Section Conference Committee. The conference is to be held in October in New Orleans. They requested we do the mailing to our members for the information. The vote was unanimous to do this and also to advertise ½ page with them for support. Please find that information enclosed with this newsletter.

Jimmy Douglas reminded us of the seminar on “accessibility” to be held on the 9th in Ocala for Building Officials Association of Florida. Hope you attended.

Don Brindley announced classes (FC's and PA); They are not ECLB classified. Call Don for information.

Dan Carter led a discussion on the “journeyman issue.” In short our Division supports the return in the fall of the journeymen to the industry. We will ask Don Brindley to check with his legislative committee from the other Divisions to get the IAEI's State Chapter Support. If we get this support we can work with JMEA, NECA and FAEC as a unified front.

Chuck Pardue explained what has happened to Experior (Block Exams). They have left Gainesville and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. The same people who were locally with them are forming a new testing institute called G.I.T.S. Gainesville Independent Testing Service. They will set up for tests and reciprocity. They will be at the 16th Annual International Electrical Exposition and Conference to be at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL June 24-27th.

Phil Dunnington led a discussion on breakers that are not marked like and load and are connected with the line side at the bottom.

J.C. Patrick led a discussion on labeling.

Ed Huntsberger pulled Mark Nechvatal name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Mark.

This Secretary would like to thank Ed Huntsberger for his years of service to our organization and say it was a pleasure to help you serve.

Due to the Fourth of July holiday, the next meeting will be held July 12th, Thursday at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Respectfully submitted,

Daniel L. Carter
Secretary
