The meeting was called to order by Jimmy Douglas on January 2, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Present at the meeting were: Dallas Stratton, Thomas Underwood, Stan DeAnglelis, H.T. White, Dwight Wilkes, Don Brindley, Joff Filion, Taylor Sams, Mark Nechvatal, Jimmy Douglas, J.C. Patrick, Ernie Winfree, Bill Thompson, Andrew Schintes, John Griffin, Ed Huntsberger, Wayne Zeigler and Dan Carter.

John Griffin gave the invocation. Jimmy Douglas led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were approved as sent out.

Treasurer Report: Dallas Stratton reported all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Dwight Wilkes reported on the progress of the Scholarship Award Committee. Dwight had contacted Dan Pratter of the West Palm Beach Division and researched the awarding process and possible liabilities that may exist. His process will be called “Blind Review”. Don Brindley made a motion to accept Dwight's proposal to pattern our program like the Palm Beach Division Program. It was unanimously approved by the body.

The Scholarship Award Committee is as follows: Chairman, Dwight Wilkes, Joff Filion, Don Brindley and Bill Thompson and their decision is final. If you have any questions contact Dwight Wilkes at (904) 461-5686 or email him at dwight1949@yahoo.com.

Mark Nechvatal led a discussion about the different Counties decision on accepting permits related to Arc Fault Circuits. The conclusion was that a State law separates the code and permits by using the application date of the building permit. John Griffin added that the 2002 NEC will require that all wiring in bedrooms be on Arc Fault breakers not just the plugs as required in the 1999 NEC.

Don Brindley reminded us that on March 1, 2002 the Florida Building Code will take over. It had been given a 60 day grace period from January 1, 2002. Don also reminded the State Directors that next week is the State Directors meeting in Destin, FL.

J.C. Patrick drew Jimmy Douglas's name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Jimmy.

The next meeting will be held on February 6, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Respectfully Submitted,

Daniel L. Carter
