There was a discussion about CEU's and special county laws. Dan Carter stated that each individual will be responsible to check his credits sent to the State electronically by the sponsor of each seminar or classes approved by the State. A new license will not be issued if not completed. You can check these special county laws and your personal CEU's on
www.myfla.com Sam Gerace led a discussion on the Scholarship Standard to see if it covered Building Inspectors who wanted to become Electrical Inspectors. Don Brindley explained that if it is industry related they may apply.
New Business: Don Brindley has applied for all the seminar classes to be broken down in segments as 4hr (core), 9 hr. class (technical), 3 hr class (work comp, business, safety), 2 hr. class (handicap). A seminar will be hosted by Jimmy Douglas at the Modis Building in Jacksonville on July 26th, 27th and 28th. Jimmy Douglas presented the updated membership report from the I.O.
Phil Dunnington led a discussion on “Pool Alarms”. The result was no one is enforcing any rule because there is no standard yet to enforce.
Jimmy Douglas asked about bonding both ends of a ladder rail in a pool. The result was that bonding one side is sufficient to meet the code.
Phil Dunnington led a discussion on pool panels and pool lights and what kind of wiring methods.
Jimmy Douglas asked about apartments under the Florida Building Code having breakers in the individual unit panels as well as the meter center. The result is if it is at the meter center and accessible you will not need a main breaker in the unit panel.
Ron Rowe led a discussion about bonding from Section 250-148 and 251-22 where there are 4-4/O cables that are run each in separate conduits in parallel. Do all these have to be tied together to bond the system? The result was no.
Mike Timpanaro offered information about the Arc Fault Breaker and them having trouble tripping with smoke detectors and paddle fans.
Larry Carter led a discussion about Arc Fault Breakers and how they should apply to Old Work in existing residences. More discussion is needed.
Ron Rowe drew Dan Carters name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky me.
The next meeting will be held on April 3, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.
Respectfully Submitted,
Daniel L. Carter
