IAEI Minutes
July 3, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon by Ron Rowe on July 3, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka.

Present at the meeting were: Ed Huntsberger, Ronald Rowe, William Thompson, Taylor Sams, John Griffin, Cliff Wilson, Dan Standish, Chris, Caserta, Robert Stickels, Mark Nechvatal, Don Brindley, Kevin Morgan, Larry Carter, Phil Dunnington, Rick Taylor, Dallas Stratton, Paul Evers and Dan Carter.

John Griffin gave the invocation. Ron Rowe led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were approved as sent out.

Treasurer Report: Dallas Stratton stated all bills are paid and we are solvent but suggested we spent too much money on the Officer’s Installation Dinner. He stated the account was getting low but the 2 seminars this month should boost funds.

Old Business: Don Brindley reminded everyone about the Ocala Seminar to be held on the 13th and 14th of July. Don then led a discussion on the seminar to be held in Jacksonville on the 26th, 27th and 28th of July. This seminar if attended meets the requirements of both the inspector and the contractor.

New Business: Ron Rowe and the North Florida Division would like to thank those who contributed to prizes of the Installation Dinner. Don Scoglio with Hughes Supply, Inc., Bill Stewart with Rexel Southern Electrical Supply, Christopher Caserta with European Compliance & Certification, Inc., Sam Gerace from Ocala, Robert Riesdorph with Leviton from Temple Terrace, Florida.

Don Brindley made a motion to find another place for next years Installation Dinner. The vote was unanimous. Ron Rowe will either appoint Dwight Wilkes or Joff Filion to look into it or he will choose the committee himself. Any suggestions you have are to be given to Ron Rowe.

John griffin led a discussion on the disconnects and water heater and using breaker locks. Articles 422.47 and 422.31B were discussed with several others along with the mechanical code etc. This secretary is still confused; but I will use a disconnect when it is out of sight of the panel. It appears that when direct connect on a range or oven (Article 422.33) with an attached switch stating on and off on the appliance that witch will serve as the disconnect.

Education Committee: Don Brindley covered the following Articles of the 2002 NEC.

210.52 G 210.63
210.70A2 215.2A
215.2B 215.5

Ron Rowe drew Joe’s name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw.

The next meeting will be held August 7, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Respectfully Submitted,

Daniel L. Carter
Secretary
