IAEI Minutes
September 4, 2002

The meeting was called to order by Ron Rowe on September 4, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.

Present at the meeting were: James Lindahl, Joff Filion, Ed Huntsberger, Ron Rowe, Jimmy Douglas, Mark Nechvatal, Charles Pardue, Larry Higgins, Wayne Zeigler, Morris Tesh, Charles Crain, Michael Timpanaro, Phillip Dunnington, Dallas Stratton, John Griffin, Andrew Schirmacher, Dick Widera, Taylor Sams, and Dan Carter.

John Griffin gave the invocation. Ron Rowe led in the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were approved after one correction on a code title.

Treasurer Report: Dallas Stratton reported we are solvent.

Old Business: Dan Carter gave an update on the P.M.C. lawsuit in Jacksonville.

The Chapter Secretary, Dick Widera, was introduced and he addressed the meeting with information about the I.O. and the problems to be forth coming. Dick said our Chapter needs active participation from all its members, “We are not the largest but we are the most active.” Dick said membership had fallen and needs to be addressed. Dick said the Board which meets in Ocala next month needs to do 2 things; 1) The Florida Chapter needs to handle its business and set an example for the Southern Section. 2) Have “What if” back up plan if something happens to the I.O that is unexpected.

Mike Timpanaro is going to arrange for the Cooper Busman Rep. Kevin Arnold to make a presentation at the October 2nd meeting in Palatka, lots of good information, plan to attend.

New Business: Phil Dunnington led a discussion on Pool sub panels being fed by a 2 pole GFI breaker. Does this offer the protection for the pool light. Mike Timpanaro mentioned the difference between a feeder and branch circuit protection. John Griffin quoted the code in reference to GFCI protection of equipment and said it is around 30 milliamp and that personal GFCI protection is between 4-6 milliamps. The general summation of this issue was that if the subfeed breaker offers 4-6 milliamps of protection it would do but if more it would not and another breaker must be installed.

Chuck Pardue with Electrosoft, Inc. made a presentation of his software and it was agreed that by using your IAEI membership numbers you can order from him at a reduced price and the Division will also benefit. Please look for information at www.flashworks.com, or call (386) 462-5483 or fax (386) 462-5483 or via mail at: 183 Turkey Creek, Alachua, FL 32615. The motion was made to give Chuck a membership list so he can send information to our members and the vote was unanimous. The Secretary was directed by Ron Rowe to send that information to Mr. Pardue.

Dick Widera drew Larry Higgins name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Larry.

Respectfully Submitted,

Daniel L. Carter
