IAEI Minutes
October 2, 2002
The meeting was called to order by Ron Rowe on October 2, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.
Present at the meeting were: Nita Nelson, Andrew Schirmacher, John Griffin Dallas Stratton, Kevin Arnold, Don Brindley, Michael Timpanaro, Bill Thompson, Taylor Sams, Phillip Dunnington, Jim Lindahl. Tommy Underwood, Charles Crain, Morris Tesh, Eric Brunn, Mark Nechvatal, Jimmy Douglas, J.C. Patrick, Joff Filion, Wayne Zeigler, Lawrence Nayman, Cliff Wilson, Jerry Lancaster, Ron Rowe and Dan Carter.
The minutes were approved as sent out; John Griffin gave the invocation and Ron Rowe led Pledge of Allegiance.
Old Business: Ron Rowe reported on smoke detectors and the distance from AC supply vents and that is 3 feet. Appendix A, that is not part of the code, says the return grill should also be 3 feet away.
Ron Rowe reported the Maintenance Craftsman Issue in Jacksonville is over. They cannot pull permits and act as contractors and are limited to minor replacement in electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
John Griffin made a general statement that he would like to see more uniform inspections from counties who belong to the IAEI.
New Business: Don Brindley reported on his attendance at a seminar for “Course Providers” concerning State CEU’s and the process of reporting it.
Ron Rowe reported on a free seminar for government employees that is in Maryland and covers OSHA testing laboratories and other tools for inspections.
Ron Rowe reported from a newsletter from Lexington, that there are counterfeit GFI devices and outlets on the market, which infringe on the patents. Inspectors beware of this.
Mike Timpanaro made a motion to donate $200.00 to the Christian Care Center in Lake County. Mike Holt will put on the seminar, which will review that 1999/2002 NEC for 7 hrs. Credit. ECLB0004642. The next meeting will be held on November 6, 2002 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.
