Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton was absent but sent word with Dan Carter that we are solvent and all bills are paid.
Old Business: Don Brindley led a discussion on the Veech Case involving the copyright rights vs. public information rights. This case is pending in the Supreme Court because it has been appealed by SBCCI. “The Court’s decision will affect your city or states ability to manage its needs for technical codes by relying on the work of organizations, like SBCCI, who draft model codes.” There was a vote to get the Florida State Chapter to write to the United States Department of Justice about this case; the vote was unanimous. Don Brindley was asked by Ron Rowe to do this.
Mike Timponaro continued last month’s discussion on Select coordination of over current devices affecting elevators and hospitals with critical care units. The need is to prevent “Black outs”. The NEC does not cover all of it; Mike said the rest is covered under AHCA. Agency for Health Care Administration.
Don Brindley said he is presenting a 1Hour credit on over current Protection to the ECLB board for approval and that it will take a few months.
New Business: J. C. Patrick, Mark Nechvatal and Jimmy Douglas offered the following nominations for Officers for 2003-2004. President- Phil Dunnington, Vice President- Jeff Filion, Treasurer- Dallas Stratton, and Secretary- Dan Carter. The slate was accepted unanimously and will be voted on at the June 4th meeting. There will be no meeting in May due to the May State Meeting in Tampa.
Dwight Wilkes led a discussion about where to hold the Officers Installation Dinner. It was agreed on to hold it at the same place we have held it for three years and that is the AIA Ale House across from the City Marina. The date is June 21st 2003 Saturday. There will be a reception hour starting at 6:30 PM and dinner at 7:30 PM. When you R.S.V.P. we need to know if you are bringing someone with you. We need to make sure there is dinner for everyone. R.S.V.P. to Dwight Wilkes (904) 823-2435 work (904) 832-2597 fax or dwight1949@yahoo.com or Dan Carter (904) 786-3420 work (904) 781-6931 fax or dcarter@fdn.com. See you there.
Dwight presented a drawing of NEC 230-2(C)(1) and NEC230-2 (E) and a discussion started on acceptance of more than one service to a building. All agreed they would allow it.
Ron Rowe presented type B liquid seal light that is sunlight resistant. Everyone agreed if it type B it can be used and not type A. It also can be in lengths over 6ft.
Ron Rowe led a discussion on Pool Alarms. The ruling is being appealed by SBCCI and until there is a ruling all pool alarms must be hard wired not battery type.
Ron Rowe drew Jimmy Douglas’s name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw, Lucky Jimmy.
The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon on JUNE 4, 2003.
