IAEI Minutes
July 2, 2003
The meeting was called to order by Philip Dunnington on July 2, 2003 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon.
Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Phil Dunnington, Bill Thompson, Mark Nechvatal, Jimmy Douglas, J. C. Patrick, Dallas Stratton, Michael Timponaro, Andrew Schirmacker, Ernie Winfree, Ed Huntslerger, Wayne Zeigler, Joffre Filion, Al Shiell, Jim Lindahl, and Dan Carter.
The minutes were approved as sent out, John Griffin gave the invocation and Philip Dunnington led The Pledge of Allegiance
Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton said all bills are paid and we are solvent.
Old Business: Phillip Dunnington had praises and thanks to those who made preparations for the Installation Dinner. There was close to forty that attended and all had a good time.
Jimmy Douglas led a discussion on permits that will require the 2002 code standard. In Duval County it will be based on all building permits taken after 6-30-03 starting with #35242 and all those above that. All of the counties present said their criteria was pretty much the same as Jimmy.
Mike Timpanaro continued the discussion on 110.16 concerning marking panels to warn about arc flash. This arc flash is based on the fault current determination of the panel. It was agreed that it is a fine print note and not part of the code, however the electrician could use a magic marker to do this warning and meet the present code. Philip Dunnington has asked Mike Tempanaro to try and get Kevin Arnold with Bussman to come in August to our meeting and enlighten us on this subject.
Dan Carter reopened the discussion on grounding and two section panels.
Phillip Dunnington continued the discussion by Dan Carter and continued it into the 10ft and 25ft tap rule. There was some discussion if these taps could come from a breaker. More definitive material is needed to solve this discussion.
New Business: Mark Nechvatal led a discussion on cutting concrete for a pipe sleeve to an island plug in a residence. Most everyone agreed that 2” was the depth and then grout in over it. It was not considered a place where it would be subject to physical harm.
Philip Dunnington drew his own name out of the hat for the 50/50 draw, how lucky is that?
The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon on August 6, 2003.
Respectfully Submitted,
Daniel L. Carter
