IAEI Minutes
February 4, 2004
Philip Dunnington called the meeting to order on February 4, 2004 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 PM.
Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Phil Dunnington, Dallas Stratton, Cliff Wilson, Ron Rowe, Jim Lindahl, Jimmy Douglas, Mark Nechvatal, Don Brindley, Bill Thompson, Taylor Sams, Morris Tesh, Alan Waters, J.C. Patrick, Richard Davis, James Drummond, Al Shiell, Wayne Zeigler, Fernando Gonzalez. Jesse Morris, Dick Widera, and Dan Carter.
The minutes were approved as sent out, John Griffin gave the invocation and Philip Dunnington led The Pledge of Allegiance
Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton said all bills are paid and we are solvent.
Old Business: There was none.
New Business: Phillip Dunnington named Jimmy Douglas to be head of the nominating committee and asked Jimmy to select two members to help him. The nominees will be announced at the April meeting and all floor nominees will be asked for at that time. The officers will be voted on at the June 2nd meeting and only inspectors will vote.
Don Brindley made a motion to ask Bob Duncan to come to the April 7th meeting to present a class on “ Simtra Hybrid Cable Systems” Be there!
Don Brindley reminded everyone about 2 seminars our Division will put on. One in Ocala on May 1 and 2, the other in Jacksonville on June 26 and 27. Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar. The 14 hours CEU’s will satisfy the State for both contractor and inspector.
Don Brindley announced that the State Chapter meeting will be May 6,7, and 8 at the Marriott Hotel in West Palm.
Don Brindley has finally gotten approval from the State for his 1-hour class on Feeder and Tap circuits.
Dan Carter announced that he would not be Secretary of the North Florida Division next term, due mainly to his involvement in the Florida Construction Institute, in which he will be President soon. He will still be an active and loyal member.
Dick Widera, our State Secretary, spoke about what special relationships emerge by belonging to the IAEI. Dick and the North Florida Division have always had a great working relationship for the good of the Chapter. Dick will not be Secretary for the next term for personal health reasons. This Secretary would like to say thanks for your friendship and you will always be in our prayers.
Don Brindleys membership report said the I.O. is not keeping its records updated fast enough to reflect what is actually happening.
John Griffin passed out a pamphlet on a Lightning rod “Single Preventor”
Don Brindley has found a way to save money for the Division if we place an order for the 2005 NEC codebooks, Etc.
Phillip Dunnington led a discussion on platforms and live parts 110.27. It was agreed that the service should be readily accessible by circular stairs not a ladder. Dwight Wilkes used the Florida Building Code on egress to support this.

Philip Dunnington pulled James Drummonds name from the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky James.
The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon March 3, 2004.
