IAEI Minutes
April 7, 2004

Philip Dunnington called the meeting to order on April 7, 2004 at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 PM.

Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Phil Dunnington, Dallas Stratton, Cliff Wilson, Jim Lindahl, Jimmy Douglas, Mark Nechvatal, Don Brindley, Bill Thompson, Alan Waters, J.C. Patrick, Dwight Wilkes, Joff Filion, Andrew Schirmacker, Mike Timponaro, Bob Duncan, James Drummond, Taylor Sams, and Dan Carter.

The minutes were approved as sent out, John Griffin gave the invocation and Philip Dunnington led The Pledge of Allegiance

Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton said all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Old Business: Phillip Dunnington asked Jimmy Douglas, the nominating committee chairman, to present his list of officers to be voted on in June. Jimmy said his committee consisted of; J.C. Patrick and Mark Nechvatal. The new slate consist of the following:
President- Joff Filion
Vice President- Charles Crain
Secretary- Alan Waters
Treasurer- Dallas Stratton
Education Chairman- Don Brindley
The slate was approved unanimously by the inspectors and will be voted on in June at the June 2nd meeting.

Don Brindley presented the cost from the I.O. for the books we can purchase at a pre-printing cost (prices include shipping and handling)

The division voted to order the minimum of each. If you want to purchase these books at this price call Don Brindley and get your order and money to him before May 1. (See phone numbers and address on Officers list on the letterhead)

The May meeting of the North Florida Division was cancelled due to a conflict with the State Chapter meeting to be held in West Palm Beach on May 5th through May 8th.
The Southern Section meeting will be held on October 10-13, 2004 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Don Brindley challenged each member to bring in one new member next year.

New Business: Phillip Dunnington recommended we find a new place for the Officers Installation Dinner this year and the vote was unanimous. Dallas Stratton made a motion to move the Installation Dinner to July to give the committee time to find a new place for it and this was unanimous. The Installation Committee Chairman Dallas Stratton with Joff Filion will try to locate a new place and report back at the June meeting. Dallas also recommended that we install the officers at the June meeting and have the dinner later. This was also a unanimous vote.

Mark Nechvatal said he knows money is tight at this time but wants the Scholarship Committee Chairman, Dwight Wilkes and his committee to consider doing the same thing this year for the top students at NEFBA apprenticeship program as last year. This was tabled until the June meeting.

Bob Dunkin gave a presentation on “Ulectra Simtra Cables”

Dwight Wilkes gave a presentation on service equipment disconnecting means. Article 230.70A and (A1). This article gives the AHJ the burden of deciding, ”how far inside the building the service entrance conductors are allowed to travel to the main disconnecting means.” In St. Johns County its meter and disconnect back to back or up from the slab no more than 48” and must be Rigid or Intermediate Metal conduit.

Do not forget all Contractors: 14 hours of CEU’s are due September 2004. The North Florida Division of the IAEI is presenting a seminar at the Motis building on June 26th and 27th. If you do not have the information contact Jimmy Douglas, Dan Carter, or Don Brindley.


Philip Dunnington pulled Bill Thompson’s name from the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Bill.

The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon, June 2, 2004.
