Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton said all bills are paid and we are solvent.
New Business: Joff Filion turned the meeting over to Don Brindley to swear in this years officers. After the officers where sworn in Joff presented Dan Carter with a plaque appreciating the eight years that Dan had put into the secretaries position.
Old Business: An amendment must be made to Aprils Minutes: The cost of the Electronic Version of the NEC was printed as $ 63.00 each; the actual cost is $ 63.50. All who ordered an electronic version would need to remit an additional $.50 each upon receipt.
The banquet for the installation of the officers was considered. Don Brindley made a motion for a Luncheon to be held during the month of July, it was approved.
A cap of $ 400.00 was approved for the purchase of plaques.
Mark Nechvatal made a motion that again this year we purchase books for the NEFBA’s outstanding apprentices this motion was approved.
John Griffin brought up the discussion that St. Johns Co. is enforcing that IMC or Rigid Steel conduit be used to sleeve the conductors when installing the service under the slab. The majority agreed that the code has left what distance into a structure up to the AHJ, but that the materials to be used are not. St Johns Co. is currently reassessing their position.
New Business: Don Brindley announced that the NEC book order has been placed; we are expecting a September delivery.
Don Brindley announced that he had attended a seminar put on by Cadweld on the Cadweld plus system, saying it was informative and entertaining. Joff Filion will have to decide whether to have them come to our meeting.
Jimmy Douglas said he had attended a seminar on SFD load calculations where the instructor was calculating the load with the recessed luminaries being separate from the 3va provided for lighting. It was agreed that on calculations for residential dwellings the recess is included in the 3va and on commercial applications it is figured separately.
It was brought up that we should be made aware that licensing, permitting, and inspections for low voltage wiring for residential has been slack and that it should be enforced more stringently next year.
Joff Filion pulled Fernando Gonzales’s name from the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Fernando.
The next meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon, July 7, 2004.
Respectfully Submitted,
