IAEI Minutes
October 6, 2004
www.iaeifl.org Joff Filion called the meeting to order on, October 6, 2004 at the Quality Riverfront Inn in Palatka at 12:00 PM.
Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Dallas Stratton, Cliff Wilson, Bill Thompson, Joff Filion, Taylor Sams, Richard Davis, Don Brindley, Wayne Zeigler, Jimmy Douglas, Mark Nechvatal, Tyrone Mahnken, Andrew Schirmacher, Ron Rowe, and Alan Waters.
The minutes were approved as sent out; John Griffin gave the invocation and led The Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton said all bills are paid and we are solvent.
Old Business: The Holiday Inn at Riverfront in Palatka has been sold, the new name will be Quality Riverfront Inn. 201 North First Street, Palatka, FL. 32177
New Business: Andrew brought up a job where a 30 KVA transformer was being moved from one unit of a strip building into a different unit on the same building. The question was asked if the trusses would need and be reengineered for the load. It was agreed if the unit had the same construction as the previous unit that it would not.
Don wanted to remind all who ordered NEC books that we can expect to see them delivered in November.
Joff announced that in the December meeting we should delve into transfer switches and generator power. I will let everyone know the particulars in next month’s minutes.
I had brought up the discussion on the problems that Square D is having with the Arc Fault breakers. Square D had announced that for the last several months their product has been using bad electronic chips, the breakers are tripping magnetically but offer no arc fault protection. Square D has begun filling orders with the replacement breakers; the new breaker has a small blue dot on the box and a green dot on the breaker. For more information contact Square D or your vendor.
Education: Don finished the time remaining with code review from the 2002 NEC Analysis book. (240.92B – 250.4B4)
Joff Filion pulled Cliff Wilson’s name from the hat for the 50/50 draw. Lucky Cliff.
The next meeting will be held at the Quality Riverfront Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon November 3, 2004.
Respectfully Submitted,
Alan L. Waters
