Charles Crain called the meeting to order on, July 6, 2005 at the Quality Riverfront Inn in Palatka at 12:00 PM.

Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Taylor Sams, Don Brindley, Jimmy Douglas, Dwight Wilkes, Jim Lindahl, Andrew Schirmacher, Dallas Stratton, Mark Nechvatal, Richard Davis, Phil Dunnington, Joff Filion, Robert Worth, Edwin Garcia, Kevin Morgan, Eric Brunn, and Alan Waters.

The minutes were approved as sent out; John Griffin gave the invocation and led The Pledge of Allegiance.

Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton reported all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Old Business: Division membership is at 193 members; with the seminars Don is putting on, we should pick up another couple dozen members.
Last month Jimmy Douglas had asked the question concerning guest suite hotels: Would 2 small appliance circuits be needed in a room with cooking equipment? All agreed that if permanent provisions for cooking were provided than 2 appliance circuits would be required. It was also agreed upon that a microwave built in would not be considered permanent cooking equipment due to the lack of a heating element as described in the code.
Charles brought up the discussion on mobile homes; his point was that some might still not understand that since 1994 there is no difference between a mobile home and a manufactured home. There is however a difference between a mobile/manufactured and a modular.

New Business: Charles Crain presented Joff Filion with a plaque for appreciation for his service as last years President.
A motion was made and seconded that our division purchase a full-page advertisement for the upcoming Southern Section Meeting.
Don Brindley read a list of questions to the division concerning inspections, his point was that there is a county in Florida that is allowing a final inspection on a dwelling with No light fixtures, No air conditioning equipment, No plumbing equipment, Etc. All agreed that this should not be allowed.
Charles Crain asked the question how the other counties are dealing with generators and generator permits. The common conscience was that if you to use an automatic transfer switch that the generator set should be sufficient to handle the load (via calculation) and if a manual switch were used then the owner would be allowed to micro-manage the load. Charles asked that the different counties to bring in their list of requirements for generator permitting.
Charles Crain wanted everyone to know that according to Senate Bill 442 that battery powered pool alarms are now allowed as of July 1 2005.

Education: Time restraints did not allow.

Charles Crain pulled Andrew Schirmacher’s name from the hat to win the 50/50 drawing again. Lucky Andrew.

The next meeting will be held at the Quality Inn in Palatka at 12:00 noon August 3, 2005.
