Don Brindley asked the code panel members about our questions and comments concerning outdoor kitchens. 1.Does the placement of LP gas tanks in the cabinets constitute any consideration electrically? The answer was no. 2. If it is listed on the plans as a kitchen, it should be treated as a kitchen according to the NEC. 3. All outdoor receptacles shall be GFCI even if it is a refrigerator circuit.
Dwight Wilkes showed us where the Mockett device, introduced at our last meeting is currently without UL approval.
New Business: Terry Baker (Florida Chapter 1rst Vice President) was able to attend our meeting. He announced that the 2005 NEC has made it thru the TAC committee and is on its way to being commissioned. It is still suggested that the effective date will be Oct. 1 2006. The 2008 NEC will have a definition of a kitchen.
