Charles Crain called the meeting to order on, March 1, 2006 at San Mateo Seafood in Palatka at 12:00 PM.

Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Charles Crain, Don Brindley, Jimmy Douglas, Jim Lindahl, Mark Nechvatal, Andrew Schirmacher, Dallas Stratton, Dwight Wilkes, Joffre Filion, Ernie Winfree, Phil Dunnington, Brian Seay, Ron Rowe, Stan Deangelis, Edwin Garcia, Jerry Lancaster, and Alan Waters.

The minutes were approved as sent out; John Griffin gave the invocation and led The Pledge of Allegiance.

Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton reported that all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Old Business: The Riverfront Inn has not completed construction. It is planned to complete in mid February. We will keep you posted. Next months meeting will be held at San Mateo Seafood.

I wanted to remind everyone please send any code questions to Terry Baker at TBAKER@broward.org. He will be asking our questions in front of the code panel at the next meeting. Questions from electricians and inspectors in our area will take preference.

New Business: Don Brindley announced he has put together a class on False Alarms, required for contractors doing alarm work. The class is to go in front of the Board at the ECLB in their March meeting for approval. Pending approval the class will be part of future ECU classes.

Dwight Wilkes reminded us that the Electrical TAC committee is looking for comments on code changes. The current modifications can be found at the DCA website. He went on to say it might be November before the adoption of the 2005 NEC. Dwight also said that they are trying to shorten the timeframe for the process of the 2008 NEC.

John Griffin asked why exhaust fans are required on jobs in certain areas yet the blueprints do not reflect that, why doesn’t the plan reviewer require them for a approved set of plans. Dwight Wilkes recognized the issue and said he would work on getting St Johns Co. to initiate this; no other Counties had any comment.

Our committee for codes and standards position paper said they are still working on our position on ODK’s. The paper is now in rough draft but is still being refined.

Don Brindley announced a CEU class being held May 12 & 13th. Member cost is $189.00 and Non-member is $349.00. This class overlaps with the Conference in Naples. For more information on the class contact Don.

Dwight Wilkes told us of a Senate Bill # 858. This Bill will require New and Remodeled gas stations to have provisions for generator power. The generators will be part of a sharing or leasing program. This bill is in response to the long lines often seen after a hurricane where a service station has no power to pump gas or run things such as credit card machines.

Philip Dunnington asked how other counties are inspecting these small coffee shops. Can they be defined as a kitchen, should there be GFCI protection at the counter receptacles? The question was tabled for further review. This is a good example of a question to be forwarded to Terry Baker.

Philip Dunnington won the 50/50 draw, lucky Philip.

The next meeting will be held at San Mateo Seafood in Palatka at 12:00 noon April 5, 2006.
