Richard Davis called the meeting to order on, April 4, 2007 at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Palatka at 12:00 PM.

Present at the meeting were: John Griffin, Dallas Stratton, Cliff Wilson, Jimmy Douglas, Edwin Garcia, Don Brindley, Mark Nechvatal, Joe McGowen, Richard Davis, Charles Crain, Charlie Mini, Jim Lindahl, Phillip Dunnington, Robert Marvel, Luther Kennett, Michael Brooks, David Schlueter, Ron Rowe, Eric Brunn, Taylor Sams, Gus English, Danny Padgett, Jerry Kindman and Alan L Waters.

Treasury Report: Dallas Stratton reported that all bills are paid and we are solvent.

Membership Report: Don Brindley reported we have 215 members. And we are the only Florida Division to maintain its membership all the others are down in their members.

Old Business: None discussed

New Business: Jimmy Douglas volunteered to head up this year Officers Nominating Committee. Please contact Jimmy for any Officer Nominations.

A motion was made and seconded to purchase an ad in the 79th Annual Southern Section Education Seminar and Business Meeting being held in Alabama on October 7-10, 2007.

Don Brindley and myself have been in touch with a Mr. Joe Weaver with Generac Generators, we are trying to set up a Q&A session, due to prior engagements he will not be able to attend the May meeting, I will inform you at which meeting this will be scheduled for.
Also we have been in touch with a Mr. Jeff Small with GE, he also is trying to schedule a Q&A session, and I will keep you informed on this as well.

Phillip Dunnington discussed a particular fluorescent emergency light that he found on a job site that has been catching on fire. These are in a five year old building; the manufacturer no longer produces these lights and is offering little support. They are stating the capacitors are weakening and spike voltages are causing the batteries to ignite.

Cliff Wilson asked for some clarification on sizing service conductors on an apartment site. This started a discussion that included NEC codes 90.2(B)(5) and 230.31.

Richard Davis the Chief Electrical Inspector for St Johns County handed out a copy of the new requirements for pool and spa equipontential bonding grid. Effective for all applications after May 1, 2007.

I handed out copies of the Division By-Laws, we will be voting on them this coming meeting in May and sending them to the Chapter for there acceptance at the by-law committee meeting at the Southern Section meeting, and from there to the IO.

Dallas Stratton won the 50/50 Draw Congratulations Dallas.


The next meeting will be held at the “Golden Corral” Restaurant in Palatka at 12:00 noon May 2, 2007.
