Secretaries Report February 21, 2001
President Dave Cake called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m. at Mcdonalds distributers in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday February 21, 2001. Present were President Dave Cake, First Vice President Tarry Baker, Second Vice President Bill Bender, Third Vice President Lee Wansor, Secretary/Treasurer Ted Licitra, Past President Jim Sennallo, Director Steve Mitchell, Director Tom Bray, Director Jack Fisher, Director Joe McCann, Director Alexander Weldon. Director John Simmons, Associates Dave Appler, Jim Joseph, Ken Kotrady, John Sims and John Somers were excused.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Two letters from Broward Community College thanking us for starting the Jeffrey Simon Memorial Scholarship fund were read into the minutes.
Committee Reports:
By laws: Lee Wansor reported that the Florida Chapter has received the Division’s copy of the proposed bylaw changes that were voted on and approved by the Executive Committee. These changes require the President and Vice President be Inspector Members. The Chapter will forward a copy of the new version of the bylaws as soon as possible.
Education: Tarry Baker reported on his difficulty in putting together a education program based on the new state code because of the delays getting the codes final draft printed. Tarry also requested code questions which will be for upcoming IAEI seminars and conferences. Tarry also requested to be compensated for his time working on the certificates for the upcoming grounding seminar on February 24, 2001. The board voted to give tarry the sum of $100. for his time. The possibility of having more code discussion type meetings during the year was discussed. No decision was made but will be discussed in future meetings or workshops.
Accident / Sickness: Maynard Hamilton is reported to be a little under the weather, if anyone has the opportunity drop by and say hello, we are sure Maynard would appreciate that. Pat Kiely’s wife passed away recently. The division will send out a sympathy card.
Entertainment: Jim Sennello talked about our annual golf tournament to be held on June 2, 2001 at the Crystal Lake Country Club. We will be looking for golfers and sponsor. The tournament is always a great success and a great time is had by all.
Code Clearing: Jack Fisher brought up a question about who determines what a plenum rated ceiling is.
Good Of The Association: There will be a grounding seminar on Saturday, February 24, 2001. Presented bu Mark Ode from UL. On March 23, 2001 we will be sponsoring a ADA class. This will be for 2 Hours and would fulfill our ADA requirements. This will be held at The Holiday Inn In Plantation.
Treasurers Report: Our division is solvent and has enough money to operate.
The meeting was adjourned to the educational portion. The presentation was William Colbert Southern Regional Manager from AFC Cable Systems. There were 60 people attending the afternoon session and another 20 that night.
