Committee Reports

Accident/Sickness: Tom Bray is home recovering from surgery. Tom is hoping to return to work soon, possibly on a part time basis at first.

Education: Tarry Baker reported that the subjects for next months class will be Arc Fault and on business and workers compensation. John Simmons will be the instructor for the workers compensation class. The August class will be on aluminum wiring and conductors. Tarry discussed the possibility of a 2002 NEC code change seminar later this year.
Code Clearing: The subject of the Florida Energy Code was brought up. The question was how everyone was enforcing that code. The consensus was was that the Energy Code is too vague to enforce and that no one seems to have a clear picture on what it calls for.

Golf Tournament: Jim Sennello reported the golf tournament went really well. The players had beautiful weather, plenty to eat and drink and an great course to play on, We had 67 hole sponsors which was an increase from last year and all the player spots were taken. As always Jim did a great job organizing and running the tournament. Next year's tournament will be held on May 11,2003.

New Business: A Motion was made and seconded that our division take out a full page in the 2002 Southern Section Meeting in Nashville Tennessee.
A deposit was given to the Radisson Bahia Mar Hotel as an deposit for the 2005 Florida Chapter meeting which our division will be hosting.

Scholarship: Steve Mitchell reported that the State will not be providing matching funds for the scholarship at this time. Due to this fact Steve believes it would be more beneficial for us to just provide an individual year type rather than an perpetual type scholarship. We currently have about $22,000 in the scholarship fund. Steve indicated there was to be a meeting with BCC later today and he will gives us a report next meeting.

The board of directors meeting was adjourned at 1:05 p.m. The education part of the meeting was on NEC articles 400-450; cords, fixtures, receptacles, appliances, motors and transformers. One hundred four people attended the meeting.
