Secretary’s Report April 21, 2004
The meeting was called to order by President Steve Mitchell at 11:50 A.M. on Wednesday April 21, 2004 at the City of Coconut Creek City Hall. Present at the meeting was President Steve Mitchell, First Vice-President Jim Sennello, Third Vice-President Al Bostwick, Secretary/Treasurer Ted Licitra, Past President Lee Wansor, Directors Tarry Baker, Mickey Bray, Jack Fisher, Joe McCann, Pat Richardson, Associates Ken Gilbert, Gary Simon, John Sims and Ed Zymroz.
The minutes and treasurers report were read and approved. We have switched over to Bank of America for our checking account. Steve and I have debit cards to be used for association expenses. I will be sending out our agenda of the upcoming meeting and the secretaries and the treasurer’s report by E- Mail.
Committee Reports
By Laws: Nothing to report.
Legislature: Steve reported that the session is just about over and not too much has happened. He did mention that the Florida Building Commission might be come under control of Florida State University similar to the way the engineers’ board is run.
Membership: Steve reported that the returns on the amount of letters for expired members have been low but we would keep working at it.
Public Relations: Nothing to report.
Accident and Sickness: Nothing to report.
Entertainment: Jim Sennello talked about the upcoming tournament to be held at the Carolina Club. He has plenty of golfers but can use more hole sponsors. Jim mentioned that next years tournament will be held in October as so not to conflict with the Florida Chapter meeting which we will be sponsoring next May.
New Business: A motion was made and seconded to have Steve and I attend the Florida Chapter meeting in Palm Beach with our expenses to be paid for by our Division. Preparation is continuing on the 2005 Florida Chapter meeting.
Florida Building Safety Coalition: Nothing to report
Education: Tarry has 3 classes before the board for next month. One of them is on business which will be taught by Dave Thomas, and the other two others are still pending. All of his classes that have gone before the state for approval lately have been turned down. The State is now requiring a method of evaluating the instructor. Tarry will be the instructor for an upcoming OSHA and Workmen’s Comp class. The State is still having problems posting the verification of our CE’s on their web site.
Good of the Association: Nothing to report.
2005 Chapter Meeting: The spouses program will be very flexible. We will provide passes to the water taxi and water bus. Many restaurants are located along the waterway for lunch or if they wish shopping is also available.
The meeting was adjourned so Tarry could start the education portion of the meeting.
Respectfully Submitted
Ted Licitra
Secretary/Treasurer
