Committee reports:
Education: Seats for our upcoming (April 29, 2006) code change seminar which will be presented by Mr. Mark Ode from Underwriters Laboratories are filling rapidly we currently have 120 people signed up to attend. If anyone wishes to attend I recommend they send in an application immediately.
Tarry Baker mentioned the Board of Rules and Appeals will be sponsoring seminar on May 10 and May 11 that will include a two hours course on the Florida Building Code Advance Module which is a required class by the State. Tarry said he will try and reschedule the class for sometime after he gets back from the IAEI Florida Chapter meeting which will be held on the same days.
By Laws: There was a discussion of the IAEI International Office proposed changes to our By- Laws. They are attempting to have all Section, Chapter and Division by laws to be pretty much the same. After some discussion by the Board a motion was made and approved that we send the proposals to the Division by Law committee for further study. If accepted by the By Laws committee the entire body would have to be notified and a vote taken before any changes could be made...
Good of the Association: Ken Gilbert who is our representative from Florida Power and Light talked about FPL’s new meter socket type transfer switch for generators. He said it was presented at the last Chiefs meeting in Miami Dade County. The ring would be installed by Fpl directly into the meter can and would allow homeowners with generators a safe method of tying in a generator to a home electrical wiring system. Ken also said his company would not go forward with that system until the authority having jurisdiction is satisfied with the method of installation and procedures FPl will have in place on notifying the proper authorities on any violations they might come across.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m. so we can start the education portion of the meeting.
Respectfully Submitted
