Ide like all members to think about possibly having all our state meetings in the same location every year. There are some distinct advantages to doing it that way, especially in hotel negotiations and prices. A good location would be the Cocoa Hilton we used this year. They have indicated that it could be worked out. The host division would still do most of the work and make the decisions about the meeting, but they would have a locked in room rate and all the other amienities of the Hilton at their disposal. It is in a centralized location close to disny and the space coast. Historicly attendance has always been higher when centraly located.

Well I see one issue with this. The chapter meeting is seen as a revenue function and you will take that away from each division.
Also the division in the area would get burnout year after year.

I think the idea is worth discussing. I think the Fl Building Officials Association of Florida holds their annual meeting at the same place each year. I believe their state organization does all the work not the local Divisions. Should it be held in one location I would not choose the Cocoa Hilton. It is a great place but very limitted in space. I agree with Ruben one of the great advantages to a Division is the profit it can make to support their Division. PBC Division was able to fund a schlorship fund by the interest payed out each year from the profit made by one Chapter meeting.

to add to my comments, the host chapter would be making the profit as they would be responsible for the whole meeting. In fact, their profit would be maximized due to lower hotel rates, higher attendance, and no surprises from the hotel. I reference the last years southern section meeting and the financial sup rises that came from it. There is no desire to take away any thunder from the host division, the only change would be in hotel negotiations not being necessary.

This is a great topic to discuss but I would caution that using the same location year after year would probably by convenience put most of the burden on the closest division to the site. This would be as unfair to the division as it is to Terry Summerell with what happened with the registration process.
He has never complained but still he has been designated as the only person to do this function. I am sure he would like to participate in a chapter function without responsibilities other that attend again. But he does nonetheless to support this chapter.
