The last topic should really have been Annual Meetings but I got side tracked. At any rate as I have been discussing with several other Board Members I am deeply concerned as to the future of our organization. We have to get more involved in the process of education under the new State wide Code. If we don't we are not going to be needed any more. Apparently there is a push by Florida State University to take over all education of inspectors. There aproach is to utilize the internet and teach inspectors at specific locations or sites that have a classroom enviorement with computer labs. What they would have would be an instructor at one location and links over the internet to all the other sites so you would be taught by sitting in front of a computer. You and I know that will not work. Lets get involved!

Two weeks agoe I think you were correct. I have heard that the schools will not be taking over. Had to do with the lobbying of the commercial schools that would be out of bussiness also. the topic may not be closed so we all need to keep our ears open in this matter. Koert

I think that there is a move afoot to try and get some sort of program, state approved, administered through the colleges, so an individual can become an inspector through a certification program.... Jake Wright and myself were involved with Dayton Beach community college about a year or so ago in trying to setup minimum requirments for such a program...They, meaning the instructors, did not seem to think it would take as much time as we indicated to become a certified inspector....again...something to think about
