Minutes of the January 18, 2006 Meeting

The January meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President, Joe Schneeberger. The meeting was held at the International Super Buffet in Port Charlotte. There were 23 members and guests present. After the pledge, all members and guests introduced themselves.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.
The Treasurers report was approved as read.
This was followed by our committee reports.
I mentioned that I had spoken to Brian Sheets from Southwire, and he was coming to our February meeting and give us a 30 minute presentation on feeder MC cable and also some new products.
Representing the nominating committee, I then gave our slate of nominations for officers and board members for the upcoming year. They were: President, Gregg Brown, 1st Vice President, Mark Deegan, 2nd Vice President, Jim Anderson, Secretary, Pete Pluta, Treasurer, Mike Looney. Nominated for the board were:Bill Pancake, Jim Kenna, Tom Lasprogato, Vince LaPorta, Bennett Rosenberger, and Joe Schneeberger. There were no other nominations from the floor. A motion was made and seconded to accept this slate of officers by acclamation. The motion passed unanimously. The officers were then sworn in by Ben Cotroneo, a past chapter president. Newly elected president, Gregg Brown, then took over the meeting and presented past President Joe Schneeberger with a plaque for his outstanding service for the past year.
Bill Pancake gave us an update on the by-laws.
Mark Deegan brought up the issue of the problems with metal studs and accidents around the state in the past year. We learned at our board meeting in Altamonte Springs last week that there is a code proposal involving the bonding of metal studs.
I brought up the new requirements for lighting in larger buildings, covered in the energy code included in the Florida Building Code. No one was aware of these new changes. These are major concerns in the designing of larger buildings (2500 sq ft).
The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 P.M.
The next meeting will be February 15, 2006
