This new feature is something like adding an attachment to an email with some minor differences.
If attachments are allowed in the forum you will see a line item in the post topic/reply form. Called “ File Manager”. Selecting this link will open a popup window with three buttons: “Browse” “Add File” and “Done adding files”.
Select “Browse” and you can browse to the file you wish to upload.. Then select “Add File” You can add more than one file at a time.. When finished uploading select “Done Adding Files”.
You will be back to the standard post form. This is the odd part. You will not see an indication that the attachment is in fact in the post but the file manager item will reflect a file or files count. If you receive a error message it is probably due to some issues with the settings see the Notes below.
You will need to insert at least a Subject text as well as a post text to select submit. When posted your attachment will appear at the bottom of the post.
This is a feature that will work for people such as secretaries that use Word to post flyers or to post images in a post.
Note 1: Currently the settings to allow attachments are limited to file type and size. We will need to tweak the settings until they work for everyone.
Note 2: One of the settings is also to show the image or file in the post if the file size is less than a certain size (this will also need to be tweaked) or if exceeded it will show a link to click on.
Note 3: If the post is not what you expect to see you can always edit it and re-submit it or just delete it.
Note 4: as we progress and need to tweak the settings to allow uploads, Please post in the Help Desk forum what your needs are to accommodate your attachment if we can we will.
