A Customer has asked me how far from the house must a fixed generator be installed and what are the distances from the house for the exhaust? I have always said that the manufacturer's installation instructions should be followed regarding this.
Question: I have looked in the Florida Building Code for information on these issues and can not find anything. Are these issues covered in the Florida Building Code and am I not locating the information ?

ED,

The only thing I can think of other than the maunfacturer's installations would be if it is natural gas fueled, then it would have to be located away from any opening as per the gas codes.

This detail is specified in the NFPA 37, Section 4.1.4 as referenced in the NFPA 110 as adopted by the Florida Building Code.

The basic rule is 5' from any opening into the structure and 5' from any wall made of combustible material. (less than 1 hr. rating)
