My wife had the final on that project we discussed (SER in conduit). Lee County virtually drove buy and threw the "OK" out the window. He didn't want to see the trim out in the bathrooms or much of anything they did. He looked at the meter base terminations and drove away. She said the guy seemed as busy as the days when they were doing 40 a day.
She did say the two inspectors who looked at this job were senior staff and the young guys were gone. I am guessing they downsized to the point that they still have the same workload. You just have the boss doing it

What a shame. This is the kind of thing that puts a bad light on our industry. What a poor representation of what type of inspections we should be doing, or better, must be doing properly.

At least you are there to check things out!

When I was working I had the best job an inspector could have. I got paid by the hour per call and there was no pressure on me to hurry. I only did about 10-20 a month. I was probably scary to the installers because I would climb up and look at anything but in all honesty they usually did good work and I had the time to stay and watch them fix a violation. I know that is not practical in the real world but we were all state employees so safety was our only goal. Covering 7 counties also made travel time my biggest expense. It made more sense for me to hang around an extra hour than to drive 3 for a reinspection.
