I can only suggest that you obtain the list of approved CEU providers from BCAIB and ECLB. The list is available directly off the DBPR website.

I believe Building Officials Association of Florida offers the course you are looking for...

I ended up having to go to Red Vector (online) for it.

Actually the only time I have actually felt like this and the ADA course was not a waste of time was at the Building Officials Association of Florida meeting in St Pete Beach in 1998. Mary Katherine Smith taught accessibility and judge Bob taught the law course. I really felt like I was learning something useful.

The most recent ADA and Laws & Rules courses presented by Building Officials Association of Florida are really good. They are better in small groups though. We had Building Officials Association of Florida at the 2007 Florida Chapter Meeting, but it was hard to hear questions by the attendees and it got off topic a little bit. The course I attended a few weeks back at the Lee County Building Department was great. There were only 30 or so attendees which allowed for really good discussion and one-on-one consultation.

I guess, as an electrical inspector, I have a hard time getting excited about parking lot striping and wheel chair accessible toilet stalls. The first couple times it was mildly interesting but now it is just tedious. At least the NEC is a constantly changing entity, for better or worse, so they have something new to say. If I was going to sit in on a course out of my specialty I would rather see the Simpson guy telling me about hurricane clips (like that seminar in Murdock many years ago) or Cemex tell me something about concrete I don't know.

I completely understand Greg.

I believe Don Brindley has developed an ADA course designed exclusively for matters invloving the electrical industry. I look forward to attending it this May at the State meeting.

How much is really "electrical" in the Florida Accessibility law. Other than (wheelchair) reach heights on switches I can't think of much.

I think the the real issue is how do we relate this to the code we are attached to.I know that there are issues with this code related to the NFPA but still we are required to adhere to the requirements by the state of Florida. Until someone changes the requirements to something that is related to what we do we have to adhere to what is required of us.

I really can't say Greg, I haven't taken the course yet.

Perhaps Mr. Brindley will post the syllabus so we can get an idea...
