The Glitch Code Change Cycle for the 2007 Florida Building Code has started.

Starting date and timeline

You may submit glitch code change proposals to the 2007 Florida Building Code beginning March 1, 2008. For specific timeline for the glitch code change cycle see attached.

The deadline for submitting proposals for consideration in the glitch code change cycle is June 1, 2008. The deadline for submittal with staff review and comment is May 18, 2008.

Once your proposal has been submitted to the web site, it will be reviewed by staff and verified for consideration during the glitch code change cycle.

Criteria for Glitch Code Change.

In order for a proposed code change to be accepted as a glitch change, it must fall within one of the following criteria:

· Conflicts within the updated code;

· Conflicts between the updated code and the Florida Fire Prevention Code adopted pursuant to chapter 633;

· The omission of previously adopted Florida-specific amendments to the updated code if such omission is not supported by a specific recommendation of a technical advisory committee or particular action by the commission;

· Unintended results from the integration of previously adopted Florida-specific amendments with the model code; or

· Changes to federal or state law.

The 2007 abbreviated glitch code change process is an expedited process which will not include the usual 45 day comment period.

We will continue using the current process of logging in and attaching code change proposals to the web site. For more information about how to submit a code change, please see the web link below.
