IAEI Treasure Coast Chapter Meeting

President Joe Ferreira called the meeting to order at 4:10pm.

Danny Miller from LEGRAND was introduced. He gave a presentation on new products that included poke thru floor boxes, devices and basket cable trays.

A roll call of officers was taken.

Treasurer Tom Haldane reported the chapter was solvent. He also reported on what was required to establish the chapter bank account. It was decided that the President, Treasurer and Secretary’s signature would be on file at the bank.

Old business:
*Secretary Vince Della Croce reminded all of contractor CEU requirements for the August deadline. Seminars available were Palm Beach County’s grounding and bonding class, Mike Holts classes in Orlando and Coral Springs and two Saturday classes at Palm Beach Community College with Vince as instructor in July.

New business:
*Joe Ferreira reminded all that May was electrical safety month and the importance of safety on the jobsite. Joe also asked for input on the direction of chapter business concerning membership and financial matters. It was decided that Vince Della Croce would email the membership for feed back on changing the time of the monthly meeting, ask for volunteers to serve on various committees and ask for ideas on future CEU classes.
*Vince Della Croce gave an update on the recent Florida Section meeting in Jacksonville.
*Joe Ferreira mentioned photovoltaic permits will be required in the City of Port St. Lucie in the near future.



Open discussion:
*A question submitted prior to the meeting concerned installing a panelboard in an attic. All agreed this did not meet code. A question concerning protecting NM in a garage was tabled for next meeting. A question concerning grounding an aluminum rail on a dock was brought up by Joe Ferreira. It was agreed this was not a code requirement. A question concerning voltage drop was discussed including the various formulas used to calculate conductor size and voltage drop.

Meeting adjourned 6:45pm.
