Article 600-6(a) clearly states that the disconnecting means shall be within sight of the sign or outline lighting system. I have a contractor who claims that this should be interpreted to mean a disconnect within sight of the transformer (outline lighting or channel letters),which is located somewhere in the building. I know he's incorrect - just see the definition of "electric sign." Do you agree or disagree?
The disconnecting means for the line side of the circuit must be external. If any components are at the interior of the building, then there must be an additional disconnect, or the external disconnect must be capable of being locked open!
