Regular Meeting: (November 19, 2008)

The November meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Jim Anderson. There were 22 IAEI members and guests present along with 19 members and guests for Building Officials Association of Florida. Treasurer Mike Looney gave the Treasury Report which was approved as written. The minutes of the October meeting were approved as written

Secretary Bryan Holland read the list of nominees for the 2009 officers and board of directors. A motion was made and approved for the new line of officers and board of directors. Each member was introduced to the audience. The new officers will be sworn in at the December meeting.

Under Committee Reports:

Bill Pancake informed us of the closing of the NFPA 70 – call for proposals. Bill will be giving us updates on the progress of the 2011 NEC.

ECF representative Bennett Rosenberger was present to give an update on Electrical Council of Florida matters occurring in the Edison Chapter.

Jim Kenna confirmed the guest speaker for the December meeting will be Sesco Lighting with a presentation on Energy Efficiency and Lighting.

Under New Business:

Greg Brown opened a discussion on kitchen countertop receptacles and shared a new product being identified for installation as a “pop-up” in the countertop. A brief discussion followed.

The special guest was not present to give the meeting presentation. Secretary Bryan Holland proceeded to review use of the internet to search forums, DBPR websites, and other online resources for the construction industry.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM. The next meeting will be December 17th, 2008.
