Regular Meeting: (January 21, 2009)

The January meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Jim Anderson. There were 30 members and guests present. Treasurer Mike Looney gave the Treasury Report which was approved as written. The minutes of the December meeting were approved as written. Secretary Bryan Holland followed with a brief report of happenings and events taking place in the IAEI. Member Joe Schneeberger welcomed distinguished retired members Ben Controneo and Pete Pluta to the meeting. It was nice to see them. Bryan Holland then thanked Jim Anderson for his service as President and awarded him a plaque recognizing his service as President.

Under Committee Reports:

Bill Pancake gave an update on CMP 5 and a NEC - ROP update.

Jim Kenna confirmed the guest speaker for the February meeting will be Kathy Salvador with FPL to give a presentation on the new solar PV grid being installed in Arcadia.

Wes Colley of the ECF gave a meeting announcement and an update on ECF events.

Following the Committee Reports, Past Chapter President Tommy Lasprogato asked the Secretary to call up the newly elected officers for 2009. All new officers were present and sworn in.

Under Old Business:

The topic of required Journeyman licensed workers per Senate Bill 256 and Charlotte County was discussed at length. The overall consensus is that contractors and other interested parties need to make their voices heard and request more information from both the state and Charlotte County regarding this issue.

Under New Business:

Secretary Bryan Holland asked the membership about holding a seminar during 2009. The members requested that Bryan forward them a list of all available courses and instructors. A vote will be held during the February meeting to establish a date, instructor and course for a 2009 Seminar.

Meeting was adjoined at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be February 18, 2009.
