IAEI Treasure Coast Chapter meeting

President Bryant Harrison called the meeting to order at 4pm.
A roll call of officers was taken.
Secretary Vince Della Croce made a motion to accept the minutes from the January meeting as emailed. The motion was seconded and accepted.
Treasurer Tom Haldane reported the division was solvent.
Guest speakers: Diane & Brian Burchard from SELF Inc. were on hand. They gave a short presentation on various automatic lighting controls, occupancy sensors and timers.
Old business:
Code change seminar: Vince informed all the seminar date was set for Saturday, June 6th and to be held in the Jupiter Community Center. John Minick from NFPA will be the instructor and the course will provide 8 hours of CEU’s. A flyer was being generated and would be emailed to all as soon as possible.
Vince also reminded all of the chapter meeting being held in Destin, Fl the first week of May.
New business:
Tom Haldane read a short article discussing cash flow and profitability for contractors.
Martin County: Scott Bruhn reminded all that as of March 1st, open trench inspections are required. He also noted that permit and plan review fees were being reviewed administratively. The cost of some permits may be affected and those with questions should call the Building Dept. or check the web at
www.martin.fl.us.City of Port St. Lucie: Joe Ferreira reported that starting immediately gas AND electric permits are required to be applied for in order for a generator permit to be issued.
Okeechobee County: Gary Gertsemeier was welcomed as a new member to the division. Gary gave us a brief description of the type of work being installed in the County. Their website is
www.co.okechobee.fl.us.Guest speaker: John Pankraz from Elite Electric. John was kind enough to give a presentation concerning financial statements. He provided handouts of an actual two year statement and provided line by line descriptions on how to understand, analyze and compare the numbers. A thorough discussion followed.
