Regular Meeting: (March 18, 2009)

The March meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Bud Keefer. There were 35 members and guests present. Following introductions and the Pledge of Allegiance, Treasurer Mike Looney reported on the status of finances and Secretary Bryan Holland gave an update on IAEI business. The minutes of the February Meeting were approved as written.

Under Committee Reports:

Bill Pancake gave an update on CMP 5 and a NEC - ROP update. One subject matter of great discussion is gas pipe bonding. Wes Colley of the ECF an update on ECF events and Bennett Rosenberger announced a meeting planned for April in Fort Myers. A 2008 NEC code change seminar presented by Bryan Holland and Bill Pancake is scheduled for the April Meeting.

Joseph Schneeberger made a motion to add a FPL / Utility Committee to be chaired by Paul Chimene of FPL. The motion was seconded and approved by the membership. Paul then proceeded to give a hand-out about “power-saving gimmicks” and gave a brief announcement on awareness of such products. A second topic on the matter of interconnection of Solar PV and application requirements was briefly discussed.

Tommy Lasprogato gave an update on the status of Bill Nally and Gregg Brown was sad to report on the passing of Gary Jaworski’s wife. The Gulf Coast Division membership extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of both Bill and Gary. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

Under Old Business:

Gregg Brown gave a brief update on the Charlotte County Journeyman Licensing issue.

Presentation:

Mark Deegan gave an introduction to a series of presentations on the subject of Infrared Thermography. Mark passed out several hand-outs and displayed an IR camera for all to see. Following Mark’s presentation, Secretary Bryan Holland presented a 1-Hr course and discussion on Article 230, Services / Article 240 Overcurrent Protection.

Meeting was adjoined at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be April 15, 2009.
