IAEI Treasure Coast Chapter Meeting Minutes

President Bryant Harrison called the meeting to order at 4:05pm
Guest speaker Mickey Ferrell from Leviton was introduced. Mickey spoke briefly concerning tamper resistant receptacles and hard wired occupancy sensors. Mickey then spoke about a brand new product Leviton is introducing, wireless sensors. The system consists of self powered occupancy sensors, a hard wired wall switch and a wireless three way switching device. The occupancy sensors are available for 450 and 1500 square foot coverage. Mickey also reminded all that Levitons website provided free occupancy sensor layout guides and free training on many other applications.
A roll call of officers was taken.
Treasurer Tom Haldane reported the division was solvent. Tom also reported that per the Board of Directors vote, a $250 check was sent to the Panhandle Division to sponsor an event at the upcoming Chapter meeting in Destin, Florida.
Secretary Vince DellaCroce made a motion to accept the minutes from the March meeting as emailed. The motion was seconded and accepted.
Old business:
Secretary Vince DellaCroce reminded all of the Chapter meeting upcoming in Destin. Also the NEC Code Change seminar, in conjunction with the Palm Beach Division, upcoming June 6th in Jupiter.
New business:
Martin County: Mike Rafferty reported that there has been a slight increase in permit activity in recent months. Also Martin County will be hosting various CEU and non CEU courses in coming months. The details can be viewed at
www.martin.fl.us.City of Port St. Luice: Joe Ferreira reported he was being transferred to the Utilities Dept. as of April13th. President Bryant Harrison again thanked Joe, on behalf of the entire Division, for all his hard work and dedication as past President. We all look forward to continue to see Joe at future meetings. Joe also reported that a very large photovoltaic job, owned by FPL, was set to start in Indiantown.
Okeechobee County: Gary Gertsmeier reported that four permit techs and two plans examiners were let go, basically cutting the department in half. They have seen no increase in permit activity.
Mike Rafferty brought the topic of arc fault protection, as it appears in the 2008 NEC, up for discussion.
Terry Bruton then continued from last month his power point presentation concerning pools. All found it very interesting and informative. Terry will continue it again at next months meeting.
