Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency: DSIRE is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. Expedited Permit Process for PV Systems (pdf): The information in this guideline is intended to help local jurisdictions and contractors identify when PV system installations are simple, needing only a basic review, and when an installation is more complex. It is likely that 50%‐75% of all residential systems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects that fail to meet the simple criteria, a resolution steps may be suggested to provide a path to permit approval.

I am looking at a PV system dedicated to running my pool pump.(still in the shopping/evaluating phase)

It is all DC and the pump runs whenever the sun is shining at whatever power the sun can provide. It really looks like something that might make fiscal sense. There is no "storage" (net metering etc), no inverters, the demand is only that it run enough to turn over the pool once a day.

I might even live long enough to see a payback wink

Have any of you seen one of these working?

I just went through the process for getting your solar PV system "certified" and which systems they will even look at. It is clear this is not intended to spur any innovation. There are only a handful of systems that qualify from Florida based companies and they are all based on fairly old models and technologies.

There are no approved pool pumping systems nor will they even look at one in spite of the fact that there are several on the market.
This is exactly the same situation that existed during the 70s when the government said they would have rebates for solar power and then made it so hard to get that there were only a handful of people who actually got one. There were very few "certified" systems then too. That is why solar never took off.
