Ok...
Let me approch this from another direction and see what happens. I think that note 2 only applies to raceways that are not approved for direct burial like smurf, be that as it may...if you encase the raceway in 2" of concrete if note 2 applied...than what is the burial depth per the table? laugh
PS If note 2 is a note to the tables than something in the table applies to the depth. laugh

eek Touche my good man! eek

I'm determined to find a way to make this work!!!!! It won't work because it's not buried at all and no location seems to fit.

(This is what happens when you try to look for something that isn't there).

OK I think I've got it beat now: The installation is covered by article 352.10(A). It's concealed in the floor. The slab is the floor. There is no minimum cover requirement since it is not buried. laugh

See, I told you code would cover the installation!

Good point. So if concealed in a wall or a ceiling (some type of framing), or concealed in the (floor joist structural framing) between say the first floor and second floor of a building, do you think that 352.10(a) also applies to a concrete slab? And if so what section provides the amount of concrete cover we must have? 1/2", 3/4", 2", 4"? If no cover is required, than they may cut it into the concrete floor with the top of the conduit even with the top of the concrete slab and just put floor tile over it?

You might be able to look at a dwelling slab one way and permit 2" of concrete cover, but what about a slab in commercial warehouse with fork truck traffic? Will that need more than 2" of cover? And what code section do we base that decision on?

After reading it over I think any type of wall, floor, or ceiling: framed, block, poured, etc., is covered by the code language "concealed." After this discussion, I don't see any way codewise to require the 2" cover. As long as it's concealed it meets the code. I may not personally like it frown , but technically it does meet the code.

If subject to physical damage in the eyes of the inspector, he could require Sch. 80, like you mentioned earlier.
