Regular Meeting: (August 19, 2009)

The August meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Bud Keefer. Secretary Bryan Holland gave an update on IAEI business and other industry topics. The minutes of the July Meeting were approved as written.

Bryan announced the selection of David Clements to the position of CEO and Executive Director of the IAEI. Bryan then updated the membership on the outcome of the Solar PV Seminar held on July 25th. Following a brief discussion, committees submitted their reports to the membership. A motion was made to invite Alan Weiss from Sesco Lighting to give a presentation on “Lights, Lamps, and Ballasts” at a future meeting.

Under old business, President Bud Keefer submitted some new documentation on Smoke Alarm requirements in existing occupancies undergoing repair or alteration. Membership matters we discussed at length with new suggestions offered by the recently established membership committee.

Under new business, a discussion occurred regarding financial support of officers and board members who wish to attend Chapter Meetings. The discussion was tabled until Treasurer Mike Looney gets advice from his accountant.

Following the business meeting, two presentations were given to the attendees of the meeting. The first was given by Tom McDonald of APT. Tom handed out some literature and spoke on the topic of Surge Protection Devices. Following his presentation, Russell Byas of Creative Lighting Solutions gave a presentation on LED lighting.

Meeting was adjoined at 2:30 PM. Our next meeting will be September 16, 2009.
