The 80th Annual Florida Chapter Meeting Committee will meet at 12:15pm on Thursday
11/12/09 prior to the regular meeting. The meeting will be at the Paradise Restaurant
several blocks east of City Hall on Main Street's north side.

The Committee has been diligently working to assure that this is a quality affair.
Education of course is the primary purpose of the annual meeting. A side issue of this
annual meeting is the socializing and networking with inspectors, contractors, and the
NECode authorities who will be attending.

Registration forms, advertisement forms, table top display forms, and event sponsor
forms are available. Ask any of the Committee members for them. Also they will be
mailed out via USPS in February or March to the general state wide membership.

The Pinellas, Pasco, and Tampa Chapters of ECF have gone dark for the months of November
and December. The January 2010 meeting announcements will go out in a timely
manner. Liaison between the ECF and the Florida Chapter IAEI is crucial in these
trying economic times. There is force in numbers and both groups need the support
of and attendance of the other. We are in this industry called electrical, that is a
dynamic and fascinating industry.

MINUTES Regular monthly meeting 10/08/09 at the Holiday Recreation Center.

President Gene Swisher opened the meeting at 1:30pm. The 19 attendees gave a
Pledge to the Flag and a round robin self introduction. 1st time attendees were
Tony Caliguiri of Charger Electrical Services and Luis Bas of Intertek.

The minutes of the 09/10/09 meeting as produced in the flyer were approved upon
motion by Paul Cameron and second by Nelson Montgomery.

The Secretary gave a short report. He is still getting up to speed with his assignment
as Secretary.

The Education Committee reported that the CE hours for the 80th Annual Meeting
were still being compiled. The Secretary reminded that there would be an 8 hour
NECode Seminar in February even if only one attended and he had to instruct.

The Treasurers report was given by Nelson Montgomery. Difficulty in setting up the
2nd account for the Julian Burnside Scholarship fund was reported. The funds are
still in the Division's general fund waiting to be transferred over. Nelson is working
with Bob Moore and Rob Sly on getting this accomplished.

OLD BUSINESS -

Nelson Montgomery will take care of ordering and presenting the President's gavel
for Gene Swisher.

Nelsom Montgomery is looking to obtain a 3' x 12' banner for the Division.

NEW BUSINESS -

Nelson Montgomery asked for a $1,000.00 check as a deposit to the Sheraton
Riverwalk for the 80th Annual Meeting. A motion by Tom McDonald with second
by Floyd Lowery was approved.

The Secretary reported that he had presented the $500.00 check issued in Oct.
to Mike Lynn of the BAEA at PTECH, Clearwater.

The Secretary asked that NECode questions be given to the 80th Annual Meeting
Committee. The questions have to be in the hands of the Code Panelists by 04/01.

The Chair raised the issue of the '08 NEC requiring a swimming pool feeder to be
in a raceway. A healthy discussion ensued. Nelson M. stated that the NEC intent
is to protect the equipment grounding conductor.

The Secretary commented that GFCI devices can be installed down stream of AFCI
protection.

Floyd Lowery asked for comments about voltage drop. The Florida Building Code
requires VD calculations to be made. The Secretary added that a good rule of
thumb over the years has been to increase the conductor one size for every 100'
of circuit length.

A discussion of SEU cables serving a range arose. This historically came about
because of copper shortages in WWII. But finally the NEC panel realized that WWII
was over many years ago and thus cancelled the permission to use SEU cable.

The Secretary reminded that in the Division archives is documentation of a request
to the NFPA in the mid 1980s to clearify what a spa classification was. The reply
that came back was that the area was "an area of frolicking."

The Chair announced that 5 local people have submitted proposals for the 2011
NECode. The Secretary reminded all that the ROP's, etc. have interesting info about
what the various proposal's intents are. Although voluminous, the ROP's are very
valuable information.

Adjournment was at 1:50pm upon motion by Paul Cameron and second by Tom
McDonald. November's meeting will be in Safety Harbor.

What does the NECode refer to about selective coordination ? ? ? ? ?

Does the NECode mandate selective coordination ? ? ? ? ?

Does selective coordination apply only to fuses alone, or to circuit breakers alone ?

Can selective coordination be accomplished by the use of circuit breakers and fuses
in combination ?

Do AIC ratings have to be included on the name plates of electrical equipment.

How are AIC ratings and selective coordination ratings correlated ?
