Regular Meeting: (November 18, 2009)

The November meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Bud Keefer. This meeting was a joint meeting with the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Building Officials Association of Florida. After the Pledge of Allegiance and membership introductions, the minutes of the October Meeting were approved as written. Secretary Bryan Holland then updated the membership on proposed licensing changes at the BCAIB and upcoming IAEI membership changes.

Bennett Rosenberger of the ECF announced a meeting to be held in January. And Joe Schneeberger announced next months meeting will be a presentation by Jamie Johnson of Solar Electric. Mike Looney of Looney Electric asked the membership if AFCI protection is required to be installed on a service upgrade or change-out. It was agreed that AFCI protection is only required when NEW branch-circuits are installed in AFCI locations.

Following IAEI business, the Building Officials Association of Florida president introduced his membership and opened Building Officials Association of Florida business.

The first presenter at this month’s meeting was Heidi Veres of Sure Temp Mfg. on the topic of alternative energy and photovoltaic’s. The second presenter was Gary Richards of TUV on the purposes of the NRTL program and TUV services. A lengthy question and answer session followed both presentations.


Meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held on December 16, 2009.
