Gulf Coast Division
Regular Meeting: (December 16, 2009)

The December meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by the President Bud Keefer. After the Pledge of Allegiance and membership introductions, the minutes of the November Meeting were approved as written.

Secretary Bryan Holland opened a discussion on the ordering of the IAEI One- and Two-Family Dwelling Books and ideas for distributing them to the members. After a lengthy discussion, Tommy Lasprogato made a motion to purchase 3 cases for a total of 30 books and that the Division will cover the cost of shipping making the books only $30 for buyers. The motion was seconded by Gregg Brown and approved by the membership.

Following a brief discussion on events and schedules for next year, the election of officers for 2010 was opened. Following a lengthy discussion, the following members were selected to serve as officers for 2010:

President: Robert Romano – City of Punta Gorda
1st VP: David Englehart – Collier County
2nd VP: Gregg Brown – Gregg Brown Electric
Treasurer: Mike Looney – Michael J. Looney Electric
Secretary: Bryan Holland – City of North Port

The following members will continue to serve on the Florida Chapter Board of Directors:

Tommy Lasprogato – City of North Port
Mark Deegan – City of North Port
Bill Pancake – Universal Engineering
Bud Keefer – City of Venice

Following the election, committee updates were opened.

Bill Pancake announced a 2011 code change update will be presented at next months meeting. Paul Chimene of FPL announced the 2MW PV system at FGCU is going online this week. Gregg Brown reminded everyone to invite a non-member to meetings to encourage new membership.

This month’s presenter was Jamie Johnson of Solar Power Electric on photovoltaic licensing and qualifications. Following the presentation, a lengthy question and answer session occurred. More information can be found at www.SPEFL.com

Before close of meeting, Secretary Bryan Holland thanked President Bud Keefer for a job well done and Joseph Schneeberger presented him a plaque in recognition of his service.


Meeting was adjoined at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held on January 20, 2010.
