Regular Meeting: (February, 2010)

The February meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President Robert Romano. Secretary Bryan Holland updated the attendees on total membership for the Division and provided the dates for upcoming ECLB, CILB, and BCAIB meetings. Bryan announced the creation of an IAEI Florida Chapter Blog on the IAEI website and distributed a recent DCA – DEC statement on receptacle placement requirements in sunrooms.

Under committee reports, Joe Schneeberger displayed new products in compliance with Section 250.94 of the 2008 NEC. A brief discussion followed. Bennett Rosenberger of ECF announced some upcoming ECF events and meetings. Jim Kenna announced next months meeting would be on 2011 NEC code changes with Bill Pancake.

President Romano welcomed special guests Bob Moore and Nelson Montgomery of the Suncoast Division. Nelson updated the attendees on the 2010 May Meeting and Seminar, including planned CEU course information. Nelson also asked the membership to think about recently laid-off members and what ways the association may be able to help out.

Under New Business, Tommy Lasprogato opened a discussion on the 2014 Chapter Meeting which our Division will host. Tommy notified the group that we are looking into local establishments that can hold the event and provide lodging establishments.

Following new business, Paul Chimene of FPL gave a presentation on PV installations and Renewable Energy. More information can be found at www.FPL.com/netmetering. Following the presentation a question and answer session and discussion occurred.


Meeting was adjoined at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held on March 16, 2010.
