I have been trying to post photos but my files are bigger than 1mb, usually around 1.5-2.0 mb. Does't the photo tool have a compressing tool?

Are your pictures too big? Maybe if you make them smaller (less pixels) they will able to be uploaded?

I'm sure Ruben is working on it or can give you better advice...

Well there are all kinds of settings that determine if you can post a file or picture depending also on where you post them.

Give me a hint on where you are attempting to post and what is the file extension.
I think I just picked 1 mb out of the air just to start with.
Due to each picture takes up drive space. Which in the end could drive up the cost for the site. If everyone was posting pictures.
So I may just need to bump it up a bit.
Or make a special exception for just you.

Yep Paul. I just checked most all file uploads and picture forums are set to 1 mb.
It really has nothing to do with a compression tool. Just more of every upload to this site increases the amount of drive space we need.
So very few people take advantage of this feature anyway. I just don't want to open the door to newbies to just upload tons of mb.
So what I can do is I will setup a a new group and place you in it to allow say up to 2mb.
For people with more than 100 posts
Give me a day I have to set it up across each forum and then add you to it.

Don't forget to let me know the file extension.(jpg, jpeg,PNG,etc)

One more question for the settings is how many files at a time to upload.

Thanks Ruben. The file extension would be jpg. I think a max of 6 files at a time would be suffecient. Sometimes we run into some interesting code violations that would be great to post. Also seminar pictures etc.

I don't think it will be a big issue since not to many people post attachments or pictures.
The old settings would have worked if you tried two pictures.
Because the original setting was 1mb and limit of three pictures.
So all three exceeded both limits
Like I said before I just entered the 1mb limit out of the thin air.

I might consider adding another gallery for just Code violations.

Maybe call it red tag alley for fun?

Humm.
Let me check.

Okay you are set for 2mb and 6 files.
But...
Something hosed up the thumbnail picture of your first post.
The reference to the picture does not exist.
So I need a clue on what you tried to do and how.
So I can try to duplicate it.

Questions.
What file extension jpg or jpeg
Did you try to add pictures to your existing post in the gallery?
Or did you start a new post in the gallery.

If I can figure out the method you used to post and the file types. Maybe I can figure it out.

Okay I think I have figured out what happened.
I turned on to many options for the picture albums for you.
I allowed attachments in a reply. Which I should not let you do. Because it will break a post. It is a software problem.

So if you add pictures. Don't use edit or reply just start a new post.

I need to figure out how to undo what I did. and fix your last post.
I tested it by logging in as you and posted a picture.
It has my mower in the picture.
Once I fix everything up I will delete that post and correct the permission settings.

In the meantime just start a new post and upload your new pictures.

Yep looks like it is my fault.
In a album forum only you should only use the image manager to upload. It looks like I enabled the file manager also for you.
It is a software bug but it allowed me to turn that feature on.

So the file manager and image tags are enabled in the other forums and you can infact add either. But in the photo album. it will only work with the image manager for uploads.

Long story but I turned it off so you can't do that anymore in in the album forum.

So after you post just use the new image tab to start a new post to start over again with additional pictures.
Like I said earlier I may just start a picture album with just reg tag stuff and move them there.

In the meantime I need to figure out how to fix your original first post and delete my test post.
And I will move this post to the main help forum.

Ruben, Sorry to be such a pest but here is how I am doing it and it still isn't working. I go to Picture gallery, new image, enter a subject, enter a description, open image maker, browse to my files, add file,Which is entered above with a file number and image number, click done adding files and nothing happens other than the subject and description is there no pics.
I also tried this in red tag alley.
I don't think it is anything with my security settings as my first post took ok.
Thanks for your help

No,You are not a pest.
It should not be that difficult.
Maybe it is one of the files.
Or something odd from your side that I can't think of at the moment.

Also I don't see a post even without a picture.
Did you delete the post?

Email them to me and I will login as you and upload them for a test.

PS.
When I login as a user I can't see your password.
I usually refrain from this method unless we have a problem like this.
