Regular Meeting: (May, 2010)

The May meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President Robert Romano. Secretary Bryan Holland updated the attendees on total membership for the Division and upcoming dates to remember. In addition, the secretary updated the attendees on matters occurring at the DBPR board meetings and state legislative matters.

Under committee reports, Jim Kenna announced upcoming meeting guest speakers. The next meeting is a joint meeting with the Building Officials Association of Florida where Greg Yantorno of Sarasota County will present a class on ETHICS. The membership also voted to have the Florida Advanced Module class at the July meeting. Updates and news from the Electrical Council of Florida were also announced.

Under Old Business, Bud Keefer updated the attendees on the matter regarding GFCI protection of shore power pedestals on residential properties. Mark Deegan distributed a list of branch circuit requirements he obtained from other IAEI Divisions. Robert Romano and Bud Keefer updated the attendees on the events and information that occurred at the Florida Chapter Meeting held in Tampa.

Following business, a presentation was given by Darryl Smith and Ady Hardy of Square D on AFCI breakers. The presentation consisted of a power point presentation, handouts, and a display piece. The presentation was followed by a discussion and question and answer session.

23 Members and Guest were present for the meeting.


Meeting was adjoined at 2:15 PM. Our next meeting will be held on June 23, 2010.
