Gentlemen,
We have come down to a situation that invokes NEC 680.26 (C)
Pool Water must be grounded by at least 9 square inches of conductive surface area if no other bonded items in the water.
We have a pool with a "Figure 4" hand rail that does not touch the water, vinyl lined pool, non-metallic coping, no light, molded plastic steps and climb outs, and NO metal in the water. The pump housing, the filter, and all piping are plastic composit.
Does anyone know of a fitting designed to accomplish this 'pool water grounding'? Has anyone used a section of metal pipe inserted into the circulation lines? (A piece of 1 1/2" copper pipe only about 3" long would give the required surface area)
I have bonded pool water (while tracing a voltage) with a piece of #12 tied to the hand rail and dropped bare into the water, but that seems inelegant as a permanent solution!
Thanks for your experience and input.
