Not sure of the date but it will be in the next month.

I will update this post when it happens.

Thanks Ruben!

Do you know if the new host will be IP-6 ready?

Never heard the term IP-6.
Or do you mean ipv6
Needing remedial explanation.
Is there a feature you are looking for to use?

I have no idea what I am talking about either. I recently heard a news report on the radio that stated the current number of IP addresses are running out, and fast. So, the fix is an upgraded system of nearly an infinite number of IP addresses. I believe you are right that its called ipv6. They advised in the news report that everyone with a website needs to check with their provider / host to be sure they are ipv6 ready or new technology will not be able to contact to your website.

Like I said, I don;t know what that all means, but thought it may have something to do with the move...

Well basically it is adding a few more digits to the ip number.
so you can have a few billion more ip's on the internet.
Right now a ip can go as high as something like 255,255,355,255
for ipv6 I believ they are adding 4 digits to the above.
So I guess that will take to trillions???
There are some other enhancements, for what is called tunneling which mostly is used on secure vpn connections.

Four hex bytes x'FF FF FF FF' (decimal 255.255.255.255) equals 4,294,967,295 (AKA 4 gig)
adding 2 more bytes gets you up to 281,474,976,710,655.

That should hold us a while. wink

Okay we will move to a new host on Labor day.
Some time around 2pm EST
The board will close to inhibit posting. So we can make a backup.
When you can access the board again will depend on when the name is propagated for you from your ISP. At the very least it will be a few hours to a couple of days.
