Due to the Building Officials Association of Florida site forum meltdown.excuse my postings. The Bldg. Officials are without our forum for informative discussion. Just had a query about windspeed rating for lot lighting. I see in FBC section 1609.1.1 Exc. 8 that AASHTO LTS-4 might be the appropriate standard...Any thoughts? Our basic windspeed is 150mph...

This is not a issue to post here.
In fact I could setup a separate Building Officials Association of Florida forum in seconds that they could use until the issue is resolved.

I have seen ASHTO used and I also have seen ASCE-7 used. I know in the Palm Beach County area contractors are requird to submit the light pole engineering with their permit. The engineering must address the soil bearing capacity sand verses rock, etc.

Thank you for your response. I am surprised that there is only one response. FBC Chapter 27, Table 2703 does not cross-reference Chapter 16 Structural Design as it does several other parts of the entire FBC...Res.,Exist. Bldg., Mech., Plumbing and Fuel Gas. I am wondering if FBC requires windspeed consideration of electrical components.

p.s. This is an electrical discussion.
