Regular Meeting: (October, 2010)

The October meeting of the Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President Robert Romano. Secretary Bryan Holland gave news and business update and the dates of upcoming important events. Mike Looney gave a Treasurer’s report and updated the membership on the association’s financial status.
Tommy Lasprogato gave a briefing on the 2010 Southern Section Meeting in Georgia and thanked everyone that attended and helped with the services for Joe Schneeberger. A brief discussion on the 2014 Chapter Meeting followed. Robert Romano opened a discussion on the new Florida Home Inspector Licensing law and the grandfathering provisions. Robert also handed out a flyer for a Fall Trade Show to be held at the Port Charlotte Graybar on November 4th.
Under committee reports, Jamie Johnson notified the group that a special hearing on Solar Contractor will be discussed at the November ECLB meeting in Tallahassee. Robert Romano opened the floor for nominations for 2011 Officers. The nominees will be announced at the November Meeting.
Jack Joiner of Metra Associates, Inc. gave a presentation on new Arlington Industries products. A catalog and samples were handed out to the attendees. A question and answer session followed.
Under code discussion, Jamie Johnson asked a question regarding listing requirements for Electric Sign conversions to LED lighting. A lengthy discussion and code analysis followed.
Carl Fredlund won the 50/50 drawing.
Meeting was adjoined at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be a joint meeting with the
Building Officials Association of Florida Gulf Coast Chapter and will held on November 17, 2010.
